The horn is the part of an ultrasonic welding machine that takes the most direct wear, and how you care for it has a real effect on weld consistency and tooling lifespan.
Keep the horn face clean — plastic residue or flash buildup changes how vibration transfers to the part and can cause uneven or weak welds over time. A soft brass brush or approved cleaning solvent is usually enough; avoid abrasive tools that can alter the horn's precision-tuned surface.
Check mounting bolt torque periodically. A loose horn-to-booster or booster-to-converter connection changes the resonant frequency of the stack and is one of the most common causes of inconsistent welds that gets misdiagnosed as a generator fault.
When not in use, store horns in a dry, padded case rather than loose in a drawer — titanium and aluminium horns are precision-machined and can be damaged by impact even though they look robust. If you're seeing declining weld quality despite good maintenance, it may be time for horn replacement or retuning — our team can advise.
